 9th Annual Canadian Hudson Meet

Hudson Meets Folks mark your calendars for our upcoming Hudson meet in Cardston Alberta July 30th and 31st. Here is some info from Steve Walsh the meets host.

Hello fellow HET'ers,
This years HET Canadian Nationals will once again be held in Cardston Alberta. We will be again hosted by the Temple City Cruisers at their 5th Annual Show and Shine in Cardston Alberta. For those of you who joined us last year, I'm sure you'll agree it was a great venue and well organized.

Cardston is conveniently located close to the Montana border and for those of you planning to attend the US HET National in Spokane this year please consider coming via Cardston. We have strategically planned the show so that it falls on the weekend before the National, allowing the Sunday as travel time (an easy 7 hour drive from Cardston, AB, to Spokane, WA.)

The Cardston show will be held in the Lion's Park on the grass. The setting is very picturesque close to a creek in sight of the Rockies. Across the creek is the Remmington Museum voted Canada's best indoor attraction.

Please visit the Temple City Cruisers Website - www.templecitycruisers.com , for maps, posters detailing the events, discounts on hotels, camping and RV information. Should you have a large trailer, rest assured we have adequate parking overlooking the event. Please book your accommodation early as last year all the hotels were fully booked.

Please also note there is no charge for registration or vendors so feel free to set up your own table should you have any swap or vendor items.

8th Annual Canadian Hudson Meet July 24th/25th Cardston Alberta

Hudson Meets Folks, get your calendars out its time to mark down the time and place for this years Hudson meet.

July 24th and 25th it will be held in Cardston Alberta in conjunction with the Temple Cruisers 4th annual show and shine. We have a lot of Hudson owners down south and they have not been able to attend the Leduc event so we agreed to let Steve Walsh and his team host the 8th annual Hudson meet to get a new location and get to see some of the Hudsons from down south and out of province.

Steve will be sending out the invites soon so keep you eyes open.

For more info please visit the Temple Cruisers website. Lots of events and prizes and every one who enters and attends can get a ticket for the draw of a car. This year its a convertible camaro.

Temple City Cruisers Website

When you check out the site it lists links to accommodations and a really nice camping park which is next door to the site of the show. Lets get those Hudsons out in force to support this show.

 July 2008 Meet Review

Hudson Meets We had a good weekend this year with great weather for the whole meet. Nothing better than a line of Hudsons gleaming in the sun. This year we even had a 52 Hornet Convertible come out. Herb Walters brought his black Hornet convertible. Very nice to see Herb out. Ryan and Anne Ankney came back for another visit. Ryan brought his beautiful 53 coupe which was sporting a completely rebuilt engine that was a sight to see. The crowd really enjoyed seeing the big Twin H gleaming under the hood. Ryan got interviewed for an article for the paper.

Dennis and Elaine Whieldon brought a 49 Commodore 6 Coupe which was very nice and Romy and I had a nice ride in that during the parade. They also have a newly restored 34 Hudson 8 convertible which we really want to see come out one year. Elaine was extremely well informed about Hudsons which is great to see when all the family is involved.

Ed Klapstein was a new member of our line up this year. Ed was driving a 49 Super Six coupe which was a nice solid driver. Good to see new people at the event.

Paul Russel and Ross Anderson had called for info on the meet and made it out and came to find me which was very nice of them so we had a good chat. Warren Whale was back as well. Even though he was at another event he stopped in to see everyone.

Martin Tappert who is a show die hard came out in his beautiful 40 pickup I have to say this is a crowd favourite. It is so well restored its a show stopper.

The Callfas family came out in their 37 Terraplane coupe and Hornet sedan. Cary and Debbie Treasure never miss a meet and were in attendance in their beautiful french grey Hornet. Al brought out his restored 26 which is always nice to see those big 20's Hudsons. Dave Ferguson stopped by in his 52 Hornet sedan. Norm had his 30 Great Eight which is another crowd favourite people love to see that rumble seat coupe.

7th Annual Canadian National Hudson Meet July 25-27th 2008

Hudson Meets Folks its that time of the year to announce the 7th Annual 2008 Canadian National Meet held in Leduc Alberta July 25-27th. This year we are moving to a three day event with a car tour. Hosted by Sean Wetherall. We will be holding the event in conjuction with the Leduc West Antique Society. Come on out and bring your Hudson, it will be a chance to enjoy 3 days of Hudson viewing. Come meet and talk to fellow Hudson owners. This year we are holding the event on the same weekend as last year. We had a nice sunny day last year so keep your fingers crossed for the same this year. Everyone is welcome and we have a fun and interesting event planned so come on out and support Hudsons in Canada. Please invite your friends so they can see what Hudsons are all about.

Location

Event will be held in Leduc Alberta at the Alberta Heritage Exposition Park. This beautiful park houses a permanent exhibit of cultural heritage buildings. It is located 5 km west of Leduc on Hwy 39 and 1 km north on Cohnedale Road. Look at map below its very easy to find the location.

Confirmation

Those who are coming can you please phone Sean at the number below to RRSVP so we know how many to expect. I will be sending out info and invite pretty soon so look in the mail for it.

Details and Agenda

Friday afternoon we will be at the grounds for early arrivals. There is a meal put on by Leduc West that we can attend and an open air dance. So we can get ourselves some tables together and catch up on all things Hudson.

Saturday Arrival: Anytime after 9:00am is fine Please try and be there before noon. Register when you get there so we know who you are.
Meet and Greet: Park your cars. Display those beauties and tell everyone about them. We ask that people with cars try arrive early so we can setup a nice display for all the people that will be at the park. Remember lots of people will be there to see the other displays so this is a great opportunity for us to show people how great the Hudson brand is. As is always the case when people see Hudsons expect lots of people and lots of questions.

Lunch: Please bring your own lunch or get something to eat at the site.

After lunch take in the sites and activities at the park or just stay and talk Hudsons (what could be better)

Supper: Depends on what people want to do. There is food available at the location. The park will have food available. It would be nice to keep the pot luck supper tradition alive. If everyone could bring a dish it would make for a nice evening. Bring deck chairs and anything else you need to be comfortable. Bring pictures of your cars and be ready to have a nice evening of talk. Please if you have a preference to get food at the site let us know so we can plan the supper.

Sunday: If we have enough people who want to take a little tour in your Hudsons Sean and Norm will lead you on a scenic drive of the area around Leduc and depending on how brave we are a trip out to a near by lake for icecream and some photo ops. We will announce the exact route at the meet.

 July 28th Hudson Meet Review

Hudson Meets It was a hot day we had on the 28th the temperature hovered around 95F or 35C all day. We had about the same number of cars as last year but with the usual new cars coming and some of the old cars staying away. We are well on our way to establishing this event as the Hudson National meet for Canada.

Neil and Karen Lewis from Campbell River BC brought their beautiful 1935 Hudson Terraplane and it turned out to be a crowd favourite thanks to that evocative grill which reminded people of the gangster cars of the 30's. John and Donna Mireault returned for their second year from Warren Manitoba bringing their 1940 Hudson Traveler. Next year John hopes to bring his newly restored 1947 Hudson Big Boy 3/4 ton pickup.

 July 29th Hudson Meet Review

Hudson Meets The July 29th Hudson Meet held at the Leduc West Historical Park was a complete success and marked the beginning of a Canadian National Hudson Meet.

This the first time we have held the meet in July and it turned out to be a great day. The week leading up to Saturdays event was hot and dry. As is the case with all events of this type weather is the deciding factor between having a good day or a bad day. The night before the meet Norm and I stayed at the site getting things ready. The skys were overcast and rain was in the air. That night it rained continually we feared the worst. We got up early in the morning and it was warm and slightly overcast but no rain.

John Mireault was the first to the site having dropped off his 1940 Hudson Traveler the night before. We staked out a nice section of the park by the fence and began backing in the vehicles to start our lineup. Al moved his 26 Hudson Super Six Coach in beside John and we had the beginnings of a Hudson Meet. Warren arrived with his 46 Pickup we helped unload that and back it in to place.

The Callfas family arrived in their beautifully restored 1936 Hudson 8 and 1953 Hudson Hornet Sedan. Next came Ken Smith in his two tone 1952 Hornet Sedan. Things were really shaping up now. Cary Treasure arrived in his immaculate 1953 Hornet Sedan. My 10 year old daughter Romy had great fun guiding the cars to "Hudson Alley" Martin Tabbert arrived in his beautifully restored 1940 Hudson Pickup which turned out to be a real crowd pleaser. Ryan Ankney guided his 1953 Hornet Coupe into the end of the line and we now had quite the lineup of Hudson cars.
