In 1952, a 308 engine should be painted gold.

The blue/green engines are the JC Whitney engines that were sold after 57 when they bought up the stock of Hudson factory engines. They sold these engines complete and they were a pretty good deal. I have seen one car with this colour of engine. I would hazard a guess it was installed by a non Hudson dealer who just put it in blue instead of painting it for the appropriate year.

Colours of Engines

20's Silver and the F-Heads were green
30's All Silver
40's All Silver
51-53 232 and 262 and Eight were Silver 308's were Gold 53 Jet 202 was gold
54 All engines were red

JC Whitney replacement engines Blue

I also forgot the colour of oil. I have a 308 I pulled and have not cleaned yet that a guy covered in oil to protect it and darn it if it didn't work.

Roland,

take pic of the passenger side of the engine and the drivers side. If the serial # is on the drivers side its a 55 and later engine. If on passenger its 54 and before. May not have a serial number but it will have a place to put one.

Yes its a 55 and later engine. Where did you get that. Must have some work on it over there as I am seeing allen type head bolts it would not have come like that.

Are you going to rebuild that and put it in the Pacemaker? or is it rebuilt already looks pretty clean. I do see some gold in there.

The engine and trans is rebuilt and working perfect. But i dont know what to do with it.If i put it in my Pacemaker it isn,t original anymore Crying or Very sad .Bigger engine and hydramatic means that the fuel ecconomy is gone i guess.I bought it from a guy that had bought a 52 Hornet and he like most people think that v8 is gods gift to mankind. Rolling Eyes So he sold it to me and put v8 i his car.
