There was another type that had vertical grooves that actually looked ok. I have never really been an ornamentation kind of guy. I don't even like the stainless along the side I like the clean body lines. But hey it was the 50's what ya gonna do....

I think that adding anything more than wire wheels and a few functional accessories (fog/driving lights, back-up lights) makes a Hudson look cluttered and detracts from the clean design. After all, the factory shoveled on plenty of chrome and stainless. I like the side trim on a Hornet. It's more than just trim, it depicts the exhaust trail of the Hornet rocket.

Roland,

Did you install those guards so your wife doesn't find about about those girls with the long red fingernails? Laughing

Yes I am glad my Hudsons are low I am quite the dish so woman are all over me all the time. It sometimes hurts my feelings. I am not just this stud muffin guy I am sensitive too. I like to watch the sunrise and hold little puppies while singing the complete Irish Rovers catalog.

My Hudson is a haven against such stuff I wear dark sunglasses and a cowboy hat....a very low cowboy hat....

Being the object of women's fantasies can be very demanding, especially when you just want to watch the sun rise, sing Broadway show tunes or talk about arranging furniture. I've had to resort to driving my Hudson between sunset and sunrise. Even then, I have to turn the dash light down low, real low. Thankfully the numerals glow in the dark.
