I checked out a possible car today

Not a bad deal for someone, but not for me. A 53 Buick Special, 4 door sedan, 3 speed, straight 8, pretty much a survivor, runs OK, drives, complete car including the trunk cardboard panels, jack and spare. Some rust, but not structural. The guy wants $2500, drive it home. If it was a Hudson in comparable shape, (any model) I'd have made an offer. My father had a 50 and a 53, (I don't remember either of them) I had a 53 for a while in the late 70s. It was a good car, but boring, typical Buick.

Sounds like a fair deal for what it is. If it were a 53 Hudson, it would probably fetch more. Did your 53 Buick have the Dyna-slush trans? I almost bought a 55 Roadmaster coupe in 1974. I almost puked when I found out the seller, a neighbor and original owner, traded it in on a plain Jane Nova.
