Selling 1951 Commodore 8, 4dr, 3 spd O/D. Restoration project or parts. Runs. Marvel Mystery Oiler, spare grill, spare driver's side passenger door, removed trim in boxes. Originally an Oregon car, good body, some minimal rust in rear frame loop. $1,500 OBO

54 Super Jet 4dr, 3spd, for parts or total restoration. Fair sized pile of original and NOS Jet parts - $500

Not really interested in a Commodore right now but I may be able to squeeze in a Jet. I know Warren so I can work something out. I am looking for a Jet to build a cheap summer driver. May get it to let my Daughter work on it, even though she says Jets....ugh gimme a Hornet. Was hoping for a 2dr but I still like 4drs. I would Twin H it and add OD.

I want to work on a 202 of course I could wedge one of my 308's in there....umm.......ummm

Don't ruin your daughter's recollection of her first car by getting her something she doesn't like. If that little gal wants a Hornet, a Hornet it should be...or at least a 2dr Jet with skirts.

The Jet has sat for years and while not super rusty will need rockers for sure. The rest of floor is pretty solid but there is bondo on most body panels. The car is basically free to a good home and does come with the extra parts combined for the $500. I have most of the grill in NOS along with some other parts, including the JetLiner trim over the taillights. It'd take a while to dig through my pile of Hudson parts to identify all the Jet ones. Surprised

(Damn eBay!) Restoring the Jet isn't for the faint of heart and isn't likely going to make anyone a profit on resale.

An interesting thing I've noticed about the car is that it has the grill from a 53 but is definitely a 54 3D. Perhaps the grill was replaced at some point or it was an early 54 production car with leftover parts from 53. More likely the former.

My gut feel is that the engine should be ok, but it has a Rochester 1bbl on it so the linkage isn't workable.

I dunno Sean, my teenage step-daughter thought the Jet was the ugliest car she'd ever seen! Wink

Hey Warren didn't realize it was that rusty. Not looking for an involved project just something casual for me and the daughter to bang away on. If I find something better I might still come to you for the parts.

I should have bought those two that were on Craigs list for 1500 bucks a four door and a 2 dr both with Twin H and hydramatics. Both Arizona cars with rust free bodies.

Oh well......

I got the 51 Commodore 8 running again on the weekend and drove it around a bit gently. Those 8's sure have a nice burble! Smile

I took some photos of underneath and can confirm very limited rust-through in the passenger side frame rail behind the rear axle and a tiny slit of daylight under the front seat, driver's side. Extremely solid for an Oregon car. Photos are available if desired.

Well, there you have it folks...a running 51 Commodore 8 for $1,500.00. Sounds like a deal to me. I like the exhaust note of those Hudson eights. It's like music to the ears. Although I'm too far away to be able to consider this car, I was wondering what the interior, engine compartment and trunk look like.
