A 1970 Meteor LeMoyne. Here, we called them Mercury Monetery. Oh, you Canadians...anything for a laugh.

Yeah I saw a lot of those growing up. We worked on those in the shop. Pretty nice car. Big, I liked the two door.

See, I knew you'd know about Canadian models. Just for kicks, I have to locate a list comparing US to Candian car models. They were big and yes, the two door was nice, especially the 429-4 Marauders.

Never really followed the differences they were just the cars we saw. We worked on them ordered parts no biggy. But I guess there are some weird things going on with model names so when you finish your definitive guide I will read it.....

Mercury also had Rideau, Montcalm and Niagra (or was it Viagra) as model names.
Fargo trucks were Chrysler products.
I believe the Beumont and Acadian names refered to old Chevelles.
Alas, I've yet to find reference to the Super Sap Sucker Six or Meteor Maple.

See, you know the old model names...come on, let um spew forth. How about now? Do makers still use different names for Canadian models?

No we don't seem to use different names anymore. I once read why we did in the first place it was something to do with maintaining a separate identity for business reasons and I can't quite remember where I saw that. Will look for it.

At least those of us with a keen eye for cars could tell if the car was made locally or not. When I was young, I remember the first time I saw a Pontiac Parisianne, it was like, "WTF is this."

The one I saw was a 65, basically like the Bonneville my wife was driving when we were dating. Man, I loved that car. It blew the doors off of just about everything else on the road.
