I'd imagine a tall car with coil springs would handle like crap. Of course the fit and finish were poor, it was a Nash. I just get annoyed when I look at pictures of the engine compartment on these things.

Oh, the interiors were designed by Helen Keller. Just as much of a confused hodgepodge as the exterior.

Yup those cars fascinate me did they look good on paper how could anyone build a mockup of one of those and says...fellas we have a winner here. Just look at the rest of the automotive world and what they were doing they must have been a heavy drinking bunch because that stuff looks like it was rolled out by some wavy people....

Same people must have designed the Aztek, Pacer, Gremlin, and a host of other butt ugly cars. It just blows my mind that there are so many steps involved in getting a car to market, and these abortions still make it to market.

I just want to know where in the process did the design look good...thats all I am asking. Was it the line drawing the small model the clay mockup. I look at this stuff and think I would not have ok'd a pencil sketch of this how did it get to full car mockup..... should have to mockup then show to public if people puke you know you have gone the wrong way...

I'd say things changed when drawings went to engineering. By the time the practical is taken into account, or the cheap and impractical in the case of Nash, cost considerations usually win out over design. Then again, there is a rumor I've heard about a slightly maladjusted janitor taking a few wacks at one of the Hash clay models. By all accounts, he improved the design and should have been left at it.

I think the Nash boys used Jello models to mockup the cars and that maybe the key thing that led to the poor design they kept eating the good bits...cos as my friend Cos says its delicious....

Heck we just can't say a good thing about these wrecks but it is fascinating to see bad design taken so far....

I'm sorry if my opinions hurt someone's feelings, that is not my intention. I'm sure there are those out those who have these cars and love them, much in the same manner a mother loves an ugly, bulging, misshapen child.

Heck we are shamelessly 100% Hudson if ya don't like it go elsewhere....we tolerate them and will help with info but we will cut them to pieces design wise.

Indeed, the Hashes were no more a Hudson than a Chevy is a Ford. Cheap construction, crappy design, lack of road manners are Nash attributes.

I like the rambler station wagon that looked like a fun car. So what it was a crap box I would drive one if I got it cheap just for the convenience of the carrying capacity.

Do you mean the small/early Nash wagon or the late 50's Rambler one? The little one was kind of cool. As far as those from the late 50's, I ripped the door off one with a 68 Catalina and then got out and beat the Rambler to death with a 15lb sledge hammer. Needless to say, my 18 year old self was not in a particularly good mood that day.

Late 50's Rambler wagon with the weird rear windows. Something different to haul my junk around in. Who cares if it gets wrecked...

Yep, that's the one that got hammered after the A hole driving it opened the door in front of me. A junk to haul junk in, how novel. Seriously, you have to watch those cars. The front suspension was prone to unexpected failure. I saw lots of those sitting along the side of the road, face down, after the trunnions failed. In a way, these cars are so creepy they're cool.
