I have already arranged enclosed transport, and added it to my 'Collector Car' insurance policy. NOW - I just need to break the news to my 'better half', and find a place to put it...
My third Hudson truck - and last, at least for a while.
Take a close look, and see if you recognize the truck - It was a 'cover truck' in an issue of "This Old Truck" (Vol 7, No 5) in 1999. They've changed their name to "Vintage Truck" now, and this back issue is still available from them, but their stockpile is getting low (partially due to me!).
Here's a link to an area with a lot of pictures - for those of you who may want to look, or for a reference for work you are doing -
groups.msn.com/HudsonE...snw?Page=1
Some of my 'peeves' -
- I am not 'thrilled' about the location of the spare, or the lights on the cab...
- The front bumper looks like it 'took a light hit' somewhere. No damage seen, however the left & right tips point slightly skyward.
- A bed cover with 'snaps' was installed
- Rear bumper is unique, unusual, and appears somewhat out of place - doesn't really 'fit' the truck?
- Interior: Steering wheel wrong (but nice); there are some toggle switches(WHY?); Door pulls, from the 70s(?); and a few other items...
Essentially, all of my 'peeves' are minor, an nothing listed affects the operation of the truck, or detracts (too much) from its appearance...

Its really nice looking I would ditch the spare to show off that nice box and fender line these trucks have.

You're right, it 'stops' the eye from following the lines of the truck. Whoever put it in drilled holes into the bed, and strengthened it with heavy steel bars on the inside of the bed (see link to additional pictures, which are on MSN site).
A lot of little things, which shouldn't be too difficult, at least compared to a full frame-off...

| Great looking truck! The pull straps appear to be from a mid-70's GM product, probably put there to save the arm rests? The front bumper appears to be ok, maybe just a couple of bent brackets. In the magazine article, it tips forward too. Great acquisition, congratulations!!

Thanks! I agree about the pull straps - I don't see any way to remove them, without re-covering the doors. From what I have seen, trucks did not have arm rests, so those probably came with the door panels - from a 46/47 car.
I too noticed that the bumper was tipping forward in the article on the truck... Other than a possible 'hit', my only other thought is that possibly they are backwards (left brackets on right side; right brackets on left side) - which might also cause the angle we see. When it shows up tomorrow, I'll probably know more.
Honestly, I couldn't believe it, when I saw it for sale... Had to call & make sure it was for real. All of the items I have mentioned are minor, if the bed didn't need to be re-done, I would say it was a solid #2...
