Do you have rusted through floors?
I got really lucky the fellow who originally bought my 51 Hornet new always kept it in a garage always had the maintenance done on the car and generally babied it. The second owner did the same and now me the third owner is carrying on the tradition.
I feel pretty lucky to have an original survivor in such good condition.

Yeah, the floor is rusted through in several spots, particularily on the passenger side. There was a jute cushion under the rubber mat that appears to have held water from occasional leaks. The rusting appears to have occurred since the truck was previously restored or else that area was deliberately ignored during that restoration.
I have a pair of replacement floor panels which I bought for my 41 pickup which I can use for this repair. The rest of the 46 is so nice that the floor really cries out for a patch.

We have a 49 Super Six. Registeder in Texas and previously from Arizona. The car is in peices and has been sitting in BC for 3-4 years. We will be looking very closely at the engine to see if its rebuildable... if not we might put a 350 in Her.
I know, I know....a 350? Following the crowd. However....if we needed new gaskets or pistons, we can pick them up anywhere and cheaply. That is the only real reason to do it.
The rest of the car is a secret until we unveil it at a distant Hudson meet.

Folks,
its time for my monthly checkin to see what everyone is doing to their cars and what other things you are working on.
So post a little writeup on what you are doing and share the info with the rest of us. Really helps to know other people are working on their cars and maybe have a tip or two.
Thanks....Sean

I'm currently replacing the wheel cylinders on my 50 Pacemaker. I hope to finish this weekend and do some driving.
After that, it's some wiring and hopefully new exhaust.

Did you get new cylinders or did you rebuild them. Which muffler are you going to use. I am fitting my Clifford header and am wondering about which muffler I need two as I want to do duals off the twin outs off the headers.

I bought new cylinders from NAPA. They had the rears in stock, they ordered the fronts from another store. I have to pick them up this weekend.
I rebuilt the fronts last year, but the bores are pitted and new cylinders were not too expensive.
I was planning on a Clifford header, but might look at some others. I would like to have duals both exiting close togather on the passenger side stock location.
I haven't decided on mufflers yet. I don't want it too loud, but a little rumble sounds good. Possibly flowmasters... I need to do some more research before I buy.
Are you planning to do your own pipes? I'm wondering how practical it might be?

Hey Matt,
yes I was planning on doing my own pipes. I am thinking fitting the dual outlet shorty Clifford header and routing the duals to mufflers(I was thinking flowmasters as well) will take a bit of thought and patience. Don't want my local muffler shop banging some pipes on quickly and screwing it up. Have outfit up here that rents fully equipped service bays. Has welder car hoist pipe bender. Everything you need to work on your car rented daily, weekly, monthly.
I want a hoist for this job wouldn't want to try it lying on my back under the car. Have been there done that ........
