The Red Deer Swap Meet is starting on Friday the 4th as most people know in the area its one of the biggest of its kind out here in the west. I keep going hoping to find Hudson parts. Some times you do most times you don't. At least this year I am picking up some Hudson parts I bought. The guy I bought from said he would bring everything Hudson he had with him.
I find the best thing to do is have a cross reference of the parts you are looking for. So for suspension parts have the Hud number and the Moog number and you can usually find the parts under the interchange number.
I always go with high hopes to have them dashed. But there is something strangely calming about walking around a huge building of old car parts.
Usually out in the parking lot you see some good deals on cars. Saw a mint 67 Belmont for $2500 last year, would have made a really nice driver or project for someone. All-in-all a fun time.....
Anyone else from around here going?

Is the Red Dear meet as big as the Brown Bunny meet or smaller than the Pink Panther meet?
I take part numbers along to meets and use the cross reference info, too.
Go to meets with no expectation other than having a nice day. The watched pot never boils.
Aside from it being a street name in Chicago, what is a Belmont? A GM model name?
If you'll send the corporate jet for me, I'll be happy to attend.

I actually mistyped the name its a Beaumont which is a Canadian Pontiac. Here is a pic of a 65 similiar to the one that was for sale but it was red and had a perfect interior and a straight six in it. It was really mint for the money I was thinking of buying at the time for my brother then putting a crate engine in it maybe a 502 V8, lowering it 2 inches and redoing the suspension make a nice cruiser.

Now that name I've heard of. The pic you posted looks like an American Chevy Chevelle.

That's the neat thing about Beaumonts: Chevy bodies with Canadian Pontiac interiors and Beaumont specific trim. I had a 65 Beaumont convertible for a while and I'd buy 65 Pontiac interior parts and 65 Chevy body parts. Pot metal trim is a bear to find.

The hood ornament/wind split molding (probably pot metal) looks like it would be from a Buick. I remember seeing a 65 Canadian Pontiac Parisienne on ebay that had a Chevy two speed PowerGlide trans in it... YUK! So what did GM do with the more expensive models? Were there Oldsmobiles with Buick interiors? I bet they left the Cadillacs alone though.

Nice thing is the Canadian cars ran on both gas and maple syrup so that was kind of neat. We had a few Canadian versions of US cars. Don't really know what the idea behind that was. Marketing making us think we were getting something special when it was really a car built out of what was left over in the parts bins.

You were getting something special. The first US hybrid cars to run on either gasoline or maple syrup.

My daughter and I traveled through a freak rain storm to get to the meet. Was well worth it though we had a good time and came home with some Hudson booty. Added to my collection of 1940-41 Hudson parts came away with a completely rebuilt starter a brand new NOS fuel pump. For Stepdowns got a NOS regulator still in original box with tags that makes 4 NOS regulators in the parts bin. Plus I was passing one table that had a lonely looking interior light from a Stepdown. Guy did not know what it was I didn't tell him so got it for cheap.
In the literature department got a set of cardboard tune up sheets for Hudsons 40-51. They are for garage use have all the tune-up info on two sides of a card. They are perfect and got them cheap. Will scan these make pdf's and upload to downloads.
If you are looking for a project car there are still awesome deals to be had at this show. Up to 3k will get you a decent driver to work on. Did not see any Hudsons. Also in general no one at the tables knows what you are talking about when you ask for Hudson stuff and when you find it the seller really doesn't give a hoot so I usually pick up great deals they are just glad to be rid of the parts.

I get it now, Red Deer is a town...right? Sounds like you had a very productive day. How did your daughter hold up while you were sifting throught the parts? You know what they say, girls look for a husband that is like their Dad. Ah, now I know why you have your daughter so involved with Hudsons. Smart, very smart.

Daughter was sifting through the parts with me she really likes finding parts. She has a near photographic memory so you just have to show her a picture and a part number and she is rolls up her sleeves and gets going.
We have a hoot as we like to ask for Hudson parts and she likes to collect the dumbass comments we get back. The more stupid the response the more she laughs.

Also forgot to mention we met up with fellow Hudnut Warren at the meet. He was looking for parts for his many projects.

So, are you telling us you have your own little parts hound? She probably knows more about cars that boys her age do. So, did you leave any parts for Warren to buy?

You bet, I snagged a rebuilt 41-47 6 cyl starter for either my 41 or 46 pickups. I had equal fun in the rain heading southbound home, both inner lanes and the ditch on the main highway were completely flooded out!

Gee, how did Mr. Hudson parts of Canada miss that starter? I think that if the climate keeps changing, we're all going to need bigger ditches.
