Im surprised.... you all keep chatting about the cars for sale on E-Bay....what about the Parts and Nicknacks?

There have been (2) 40th Anniversary Hudson coins on in the last week as well as 48-53 Front floor pans (new metal). I think the price is reasonable. There has also been a large selection of glass... (though these are expensive and hard to ship) and rechromed bumper peices.

Don't forget about the parts section when your on E-Bay next time. Laughing

I always look at the parts. Those floor pans are of poor quality and most likely a bear to install. I got 3 of those 40th anniversary coins for $5 off ebay 2 years ago.

Its nice to see a couple of companies are making glass for the later Huds we could always get the 48-53 but now they are making the front and rear glass for the 54.

We all keep an eye on ebay. The cars offer more to talk about. After all, how much can you say about parts? But then again, I could speak volumes about getting shafted on a rechromed bumper I found on ebay.

Thanks! I saw that and acknowledged it.

Buyers beware, all that shines is not necessarily (or even close to) straight. Now we know what happens to all the crooked, heavily pitted and severly corroded parts that should have stayed in the junk yard. Watch out for getting screwed on the return shipping. too. Mad

That is my point exactly. How is someone suppose to know if these floorpans are crap, if no-one has talked about it? Or experienced the level of difficulty in installing them? Who makes good floorpan? I haven't seen any advertised....and the few people I have talked to in "parts" don't even know "who made" Hudson or what contry a Hudson is from.

Ken Amman sells floorpans and they are extremely well made he is in the roster. They cost about $400 a pair but fit in like a glove and have all the correct mounting points your original floor pans had.

If you want to know about parts check the links section on this site plus I have a news item for parts guys who are not on the Internet and if that fails ask a question here as we know everything there is to know about Hudsons its our job... Laughing

And I don't mind discussing parts and locations so I will keep adding here if you do as well Cool

Based on the extremely low price of those floor pans on ebay, that in and of itself should be a tip off as to the quality or lack thereof.

Ok, to keep this thread going for Max here are some finds I think are worth a look. A guy is parting out a 52 308 and here are some of the internals.

Even if buying new stuff with a warranty, there could problems. I can't image what a gamble it would be to buy this stuff used.

Not that much really. The cam you send to Randy Maas for a regrind the crank you have magnaFluxed the same with the rods. If you get them for the right price should be fine.

Sounds like lots of work but you do what you have to do.

Exactly.... you do what you have to do and you use what you can find...

The picture of those pistons though... looks like afew of them are scored up. Might just be the pic. But I have seen complete "Master Rebuild Kits" on e-bay lately for certain motors. Not sure of the quality but their there. Was thinking about sending mine to that "Unique Industries?" having them redo the 262. Any words on them? besides expensive....lol

Do you mean the guy over at Uncommon Engineering? he used to post on the Classic Car forum. I like his stuff but I do not believe his line about valve seats and you should drill out your Hudson Chrome Moly block and put in hardened seats as you would be drilling out the hardest seats your ever going to get for nothing.

If you do a valve job this will probably last you your lifetime unless you are a salesman and putting thousands of miles a year on your Hudson which is probably unlikely.

But talking about rebuild kits forget ebay get them from Dale Cooper. I call up Dale for parts he know what I am talking about he sends them the next day and the bill is in the box meaning I pay when I get them. Now I could just keep the parts and tell him I never got them he could get stiffed. I bet he never does. Everything you get from Dale is top quality and the actual part you ordered. Top notch Hudson guy.

One thing I can say is its getting expensive to rebuild these engines. $1500 CAN for parts and then if you need machining you are looking at an extra grand there and that is if you are doing all your own work. But when you are done you will have a really nice engine that will run forever. Now with the new components you can build a pretty reliable ride.

That is him...Uncommon. Good point about the seats...I have been lightly looking at Kanter and Egge for the engine parts but think Kanter is rather expensive. Will look at Dale Coopers stuff more closely. Thanks...this is the type of imput I am looking for and is sometimes hard to find.
