Hello

I'm fitting 1954 WASP PS assy for my 1950 Pacemaker Brougham and the doc that you have put to download section would help me a lot. But I can't download it even though I have registered to this site. Coud you send it to me by e-mail?

I'm also very interested what power brake system you have considered.

Best regards,
Japo

Hey Japo,

For my power brake setup I am using the following:

Front Brakes

Pridemore Hub kit for Hudson
Brembo Vented Cross Drilled Rotors
SSBC Twin piston calipers
Wilwood 2 stage master cylinder under the floor with remote reservoir

Rear Brakes:

Wilwood disc kit for cars that require emergency brake so I can hook up the triple safety brake system as well. These fit on the Dana 44 rear end.

The downloads section is only open to people who post. Keep posting and I will add you to the section.

51,

Can you fit the Brembo parts under the stock wheels? I have a Pridemore that uses the GM G-body calipers and they are a pretty close fit to the stock wheels.

The Brembo rotors are standard size and are a replacement for the generic parts that Pridemore uses. So yes they will fit. The calipers are a different profile than ones that Pridemore suggests. I am not comfortable taking a part and grinding parts off it. The SSBC calipers are expensive but they are a lower profile and are two piston.

Hello 51

Thanks for tips Smile

I just got my Hudson and as nice as the car is I'm going to rebuild the car this winter (we have long winters here in Finland Shocked ).

My goal is to have everyday driver for summers and I would like to have some upgrades to the car.

Car allready have AMC 258 six with 904 tranny and 9" ford rear. I think this is good choice for everyday car.

Here is my list to do things:
Engine
Tranny
Rear end
Interior
Install power steering
Install power brakes
Rebuild steering gear
Stereo conversion for original radio
Lower 1" front and 2" back
and alot litle things too Smile

I was thinking to use this power brake unit :
www.ecihotrodbrakes.co...blies.html
or
www.ecihotrodbrakes.co...stems.html

I will probably keep drum brakes.

As for car looks I'm going to keep it close to original so that it will look that it could have come out of factory that way.

Do you brake system have booster?

Best regards,

Japo

PS. I had to make new user account because I changed the theme and after that all I got was blank page and could not revert the setting anymore.

For my 51 I am using the under the floor MC so I do not use a booster. Braking using 4 wheel brakes with the correct proportioning valves is not much different than the stock brakes for pedal effort. Of course the car stops in a lot less distance and no fade in stop and go.

For my 54 sedan and 54 Hollywood I am using the suspended pedal setup so the MC is on the firewall. I am using a Wilwood MC as well and it does not have booster either. I guess it would be nice but I do not want the hassle of plumbing in vacuum lines to that.

I have added you to the download groups so go back into downloads and you can download all the help files you need. You should post some pics.

On my 54 sedan the car is in pieces so I will take pics of the brakes and post them here as part of my series restoring a 54 sedan the Irish way.

Since I can't add to the technical side of the mix, I'll come by and cook corned beef and cabbage...to add some authenticity to the Irish way of restoration. Smile

Yes plenty of beer and then you sober up and notice you have been driving the car with three wheels and you wondered why it was bumpy.

What a busy garage you'll have...people dancing the jig, eating corned beef and swilling down gallons of Molsons or Lebatts. Isn't that what you drink up yonder?
