Here is an interesting welding job on a 55 and up intake. I think racing part is a good assessment not built to be pretty but perform.

Judging from the look of the work, I could have done better...and I don't know diddly about welding. Now soldering, that's a different story. When soldering, lumps indicate that the joint was cold and will not have good integrity.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt its hard to weld cast iron so if it does not leak I can forgive the fact he did not grind his welds smooth. Of course if this came off a Hudson racing engine the guy probably did not give a crap what it looked like, only if it went faster....
