If I understand correctly my 52 Hornet may have left the factory with a Hudson produced differential or may have had a Dana 40 ?
How do I tell which I have?

I found a tag on the rear of the cover plate which read 11 45
I assume this to be the ratio which my math says will be 4.10 to ! ?. What is the ratio of the OD unit.

what about parts availability ?

Who's transmission and OD unit did the Hudson folks use?

Will post some pictures of "Harold" the Hudson soon as I can roll him out of the shop.

Appreciate all the help,

Cheers Dave

The early 52 models shipped with the Hudson built diff the later shipped with the Dana 44. The Dana will have a rear cover where the Hudson built did not, the front of the pumpkin unbolts on the Hudson rear end.

Yes 4.10 was a common ratio.

The tranny is a Borg Warner as is the OD unit. Parts are available for both the tranny and OD unit.
