My first Hudson, 52 Hornet, twin H, is in the garage. She has been in storage for 11 years. After a fuel system flush and a bit of coaching she fired up. Motor runs great....except the exhaust manifold is cracked, it has been brazed at the centre right below the heat riser valve and I noticed a new crack at #6 cylinder.
Question is, is the twin H exhaust manifold different from the single carb engine? How difficult are they to locate?

Also the intake manifold has a hole to the outside, this is not into the intake chamber, but through the exhaust passage which heats the intake gases.
In any case it will need to be repaired, the hole is about the size of a quarter.
Any suggestions? I am thinking of a metal patch or cover brazed in place?

Where can I access a shop or service manual? The clutch system and the overdrive, for a start are all new to me,.....thats what makes Hudsons unique .

Yes the Twin H exhaust manifold is different that the single carb version.

There are sources for them. Try eBay or call Jason at Albright Hudson you can do a search on the site here and look in the links section we have lots of Hudson vendors listed.

You will need to pull the intake and have it welded by someone who knows how to weld cast iron. They heat it up and then weld with special rod then let it cool slowly as not to form new cracks.

Is the heat riser (damper) opening and closing properly if it is not it causes hot spots which cause the cracks.

I suggest you join the Hudson club there you can access the club store where you can buy reprints of the manuals. Or you can go to ebay and look up Faxon books they sell reprints of the manuals.

Welcome to the site.
