Checking things out underneath my Hornet, I notice the output of the brake master cylinder has a (copper ?) line running up to the front righthand side of the engine compartment. Someone has connected a length of (conventional looking brake line) to the returning line,.. also copper colored.
This line connects to a 3 way fitting directed towards the front and rear brakes. Was there some type of vacume assist brake available ???

Need to post a pic to let me see that one I can tell if its stock config. Only vacuum assisted brakes Hudson had came in 54 but master cylinder and booster were both under the hood.
Also brake lines should not be copper.

Ok I looked at the pics. That stuff is all wrong. You need to replumb your brakes with proper brake lines I would go with stainless steel lines. That stuff leading up under the hood and looping back with two different tubing materials in not good.
The use of copper lines on brakes is a no-no. You can make your own lines or you can buy a premade kit from these guys www.inlinetube.com/
