auto box

Right got nearly everything sorted and going to take the hudson out at the weekend but i have a gearbox oil leak quite a fast one at idle its drip drip drip when running coming out of the cover that covers the torus or torque converter havent looked in there yet what am i likley to find any help out there thanks Barry

Probably the front seal is gone. Or the Torus itself is leaking. Take the cover off and see where the leak is coming from when its running.

what kind of a job is it to replace the seal? do you have to undo the bolts around the torus ring to remove the box or does the box come out leaving the torus on the flywheel thanks for your help regards Barry PS the LPG is fitted and i hope to test it sunday all being well

Forgot to ask do you have a Hydramatic or Borg Warner Auto in there?

You have to remove the bolts from the flywheel to torus and remove the box with the torus in place its not like a torque converter. (Talking Hydramatic here)

Once you have the box out you will need a new gasket from the flywheel to torus. You should replace the pan gasket, side gasket and front and rear seals while you have the box out. Save you headaches down the road.

sounds like good advise i realy want to use it for a while so might have to put up with the leak but it will be fixed as soon as i can do it oh its a dual range hydro box seem ok other than the leak but maybe a complete rebuild would be better are the parts available? and where would i look for them thanks again Barry

Yes the complete rebuild kits are available. I have the link to the guy who sells them in the links section here. Do a search on transmission.

thanks for the advise just to let you know that i ran the hudson on lpg today and it ran fine in fact smother than on petrol lpg is 55 pence and petrol is £1.15 per liter so i will be able to realy use the hudson on a regular basis not sure what it would do to the gallon but i guess it would be maybe 15 miles on petrol? anyway its looking good at the moment
