Does anyone with a 51-53 Hudson know if a rubber/plastic pad was used between the Hudson emblem and the body? I've been told no, but saw one on the trunk badge of a 54 Hornet that was in a video about Jack Miller. Were pads/gaskets used between other badges, door handles, fender rockets, hood ornaments, etc?

Pulled out my handy dandy parts manual 48-54 and looked up these items and they did not list a pad for the doors or truck lid or any of the emblems. These were direct to paint contact items. It does not show a pad for 54 either maybe is something he made himself.

I love that parts book I am busy collecting all the other parts books. I have a plan hatching where I will build a interactive database fronted by a web server that will contain all of the Hudson part books. I will have my developers build a nice front end with security that you can access over the web. This way you can do a search and get a part number and pic if available. I will then add cross reference fields so I can add part sources so look up a part it shows all the original Hudson info and modern part numbers. I will work it as a collective project. My guys will enter everything and some privileged volunteers will access it and check for accuracy.

I think will take me about 2 years to complete. The system should be up and running by end of year data entry will take time. My daughter has volunteered to enter data from parts manuals and I will hire some summer students to do entry. This is not something I am going to discuss with any club I am just going to get the work done without committees getting in the way.

WOW! Talk about an ambitious and much needed resource. Doing that will surely secure a place for you in Hudson history. I for one can't wait to see that. Considering the volumes of written word, pics and general Hudson info you have on hand, you're my new oracle for everything Hudson.

I intend to place fields so we can add pictures and provide a complete resource for the Hudson mark. I have some of the best database and web developers on the planet working for me so why not. I am at the point where I have almost finished the layout and data objects and schema so the biggest thing will be the input but I get cred for taking in interns and training them so its win win for me I get to train new employees on a system that does not affect my bottom line but I get a great resource then you will be able to access it through this site. Members only..... And a shirt and tie...no shirt no tie no data..... Razz

It all sounds like Nirvana, really liked them, sad that Kurt did himself in. Anyway, I refuse to do the shirt and tie...it's one or the other. What's next, pants and shoes? Laughing

I can hear it now, all of those old time haters, criticizing you for doing something they can't share the vision in. Or have their say on how it should be done.

"We can't have two places to look for data. Everyone needs to pay their hudson dues, and buy all of the hard to find references.

We can't have more than one source.

Also, we can't discuss the notion of having two reference sources, because that might be stepping on someone's feet. "

I think it sounds like a great idea. What other make has that kind of on-line support. Can you imagine just the idea of being able to go on-line and look at pages of a manual? wow!

I can hardly wait...

All I can say to the haters is when your ship is sinking, run like rats for those mooring lines and try to get youself to shore. Then, find some other place to infest. Cool

Ha, Ha, the joke will be on everyone not affiliated with this forum. Not that it needs it, but the reference site could derive income by collecting pay-per-view fees from non-members/lurkers. Twisted Evil

My thing is I am doing it for Hudson. I love the brand I collect all this stuff, got the car and getting more. I want to do it for me. I know it will be a great resource and I am asking for no help, no money, no support I could care less what the other guys think. I want a reference that you type in Hornet and year say 51 you can get a parts listing a pic of each car. The parts manuals have great pics of the cars plus I have every film reel Hudson produced this is all going into it. Then its here for members and historians.

I hate design by committee I have a pretty successful company by using that same method of doing it my way. When its done it done. If it takes me 2 years I don't care. I hate this thing of info all over the place and lots of it just plain wrong. I'm doing my thing for my buddy Frank Spring.......

Haha.. I think 51HornetA (isn't it wierd how we never call each other by first names?) Should change his signature to:

"this Time Its a Hudson, biatch!"

just a thought.

Maybe it's time for a *new* hudson club...

Stepdowns only.

Cheers to you for sharing and feeling the love...We (and Frank Sinatra if he were still alive) are proud of you for..."Doing it my way."

From the start, Hudsons were special. Cars that were not only well engineered and solidly constructed, but loved by their owners and feared by competitors.

Although I have some Hudson TV ads, racing films and sales info on VHS, can you tell us about the Hudson films you have?

I have the factory training films. They are 16mm films Hudson put out to train field staff they are a great source of high quality high resolution pics of cars, factories, interiors and specifications. I am having the images put on a DVD so I can use them for my project.
