| Hi I bought this car and it is now in New Zealand, I am pretty happy with it and it is real solid, the propane will be removed and returned to petrol Twin H as it should be. When it arrived the battery was connected up and she fired right up and ran good. My plan is to make it a Teague replica, I now its not a Hornet but the price was good and our dollar is about 60 cents which makes it tough to afford a Hornet.

I bet that engine is pretty clean having run on propane. Glad to hear you got a good deal. Looked like a nice car. A Teague replica will be good. Keep us updated on your project I would like to hear more.

I threw a bid at this one myself, Pard. Kinda sad to know that it's out of the country and I'll never see it.
Glad that it went to someone who will appreciate and take care of it....slim

Looks like a great deal. To get a Hudson coupe for that money is a steal.

Well Slim, if you ever make a trip to New Zealand you would be welcome to visit and see her in the flesh. I know you guys must be sad to see these things leave the country but I believe it is if not the only Coupe in New Zealand or Australia it is one of very few so will create a lot of interest here and will always be treasured. I have been trying to find one for about 5 years now at a reasonable price and I think I got lucky with this one. Thanks for the reply and I am sure you guys can help me out when I get into working on her.
Cheers Mike.

That would be great. How are you going to do the paint job? are you going to air brush the logos on the car like Fabulous Hudson? I saw one guy who had decals made and applied those. Did not look bad but I saw another guy who painted his on and then clear coated. That looked much better.

Thanks for the offer, Mike.
And it's all the more reason for me to make another trip down there. My wife spent a couple of years down in Dunedun, on the south island, going to school before I met her and we have been down there a couple of times since. We have many Kiwi friends.
What a beautiful country...slim

| PS. I was actually out of the running on the bidding pretty early and therefore, I wasn't the one who kept bumping the price up for ya...slim

Yeah I don't think decals would look right . A friend of mine over here had his Chrysler done and they used the decal set up with the letters cut out then sprayed it and removed the stencil, it came out pretty good so will probably do that. These guys that do the decals now can do everything on computer and can scan models and just enlarge everything to suit. The art of real sign writing will be lost soon. My friend with the Chryslers has a 53 New Yorker that was ordered as a Mexican road race car and was not used in the race. It has 28,000 miles on it and has twin 4 barrel Hemi, with disc brakes all round, heavy limosine suspension etc. it is quite a piece of history. He also has a 57 300C factory race car with stick shift which he has almost finished restoring and another 300C and a 300D. The plan is to photograph the Hudson when done with the 53 Mexican road race car.
Cheers Mike.

Glad to hear you weren't the one making me pay more. We are just out the South side of Auckland in Pukekohe and have a couple of acres with a small house and a big shed. I also have a 60 Cadillac Coupe Deville a 31 Model A with 56 Olds engine done as a 50's style hot rod and a 34 Plymouth Coupe which is also a early hot rod built in New Zealand in 59 it runs a flathead with Allard heads and manifold and won heaps of shows in the 60's and 70's.
I have cousin in Denver who I visited about 5 years ago, went to have a look at Streamline Hot Rods there which was pretty cool. I used to go down the South Island every year when I raced motorcycles to do the 3 tracks down there in Christchurch, Timaru and Invercargill.
Cheers Mike.

Hey Mike,
New guy here. Just wanted to say congrats on your purchase. I raced at Pukekohe in 2001 on an old Indian..... let us know what kind of times you can turn with that coupe at Puke, lol Seriously, look up my mate Paul Hanes in Horitu, (Hanes Engineering and lift trucks) he is a wizard with old machinery. Good on you mate! Cheers, Art
