Nice looking 40 Traveler on ebay...I like them when they are original like this so you can start the work yourself.

Several people I know claim to have been attempting comunications (without success) with these people when they had an ad on Craigslist.
As far as this car is concerned, it's not one of my favority years for any car. But it does look like an easy resto. With the exception of most GM products of the era, 1935-1947 cars look drab to me.

You have to paint these cars right to highlight the lines for the 38-41 I really like these lines. 40-41 is my fav grill from this era. Nice cars that drive nice.

IMHO, every car (and some women) will look better with skirts. Although the 40's Hudsons are cool in many ways, I don't feel that looks were one of them. And besides, you have to step-up into those cars.

When I first got into Hudsons I was a Stepdown 48-53 all the way did not even like the 54 but then slowly the 54 started to look really good to me then the 38-41 started to look good. Took a drive in a 40 and went this drives and handles nice. Not Stepdown nice but 40's nice. Compared to other late 30's and 40's car I have driven the Hudson is in a class by itself. Now I must have these as well so I am looking.....the search continues....

You WERE a Stepdown 48-53! Wow...and now you're a man. What model were you? Maybe we should write a book about that.

So this baby did not sell. Its been on twice now. The BIN was $7500 and it had a reserve of oh, I don't know maybe $7499. It got to $6800 with 32 bids and did not make reserve so seller kept it for another go all for $700. I think if he wants to sell this car he should put the reserve at 6K then when buyers get to that they will bid up to win.
If you make 32 bids and don't want to hit the BIN for $7500 you are not going to buy this car. If I was at $6800 and really wanted it I would have hit the BIN.
Its a great place to start as its unmolested. Only problem is that a restored Traveler does not got for anymore than 10K now. I have seen really nice 40's for $7500 way better than this one and they need no work. So if you worry about value you won't get your money back if you buy this for $7500 then need to spend 10k to restore it.

Personally, I think that this car is ugly and can't understand why anyone would want it. Although I see your point about the price, this is not a case where the seller is reluctant because he wants to keep it and his wife is bugging him to get rid of it. Rather, I think we have a case of stupidity + creed = No Sale. This guy (a Blue Oval man) either owns the butt load of Hudsons stashed in, I forget, Washington or Oregon or he represents the owner. Either way, I've contacted him numerous times and he has promised to respond to my requests for parts. So far, no parts and I've given up on trying. Reason being, if you come off as needy, the prices go up....so why bother.

Yes, when looking for parts never start the conversation off by saying "man I am glad I found you these parts are so rare you cannot find them anymore, oh by the way how much?"
A 10 cent bolt then becomes an $1100 item.....

You said it. A year ago or so, I emailed a goof that had a 53 Hornet he was parting out. By goof, I mean this guy expected people to pay big bucks for parts he couldn't bother to send pics of.

No big surprise. But who knows, with the nice weather coming, maybe someone will buy it. But thinking about the guy who rodded the Terraplane (black one on ebay recently) makes me think this one won't sell either.

To me this the quintessential prewar car. This design grew on me, I love the sweep of that rear roof line down into the trunk and that flip forward hood. Gonna get me one and gun around town with my boys solving crimes and looking for Nazi's....see .....Junior G-Men thats us....
