A ton of interesting pics. Only a few Hudsons here and there, but a nice walk down memory lane.

You said it. Although it takes quite a while to sift throught the many pages, it's worth it. I like that this portion of the site is all about people sharing personal photos and stories. It may not be about their current cars of choice, but car people love all cars and the memories they evoke. I think people here are doing the same thing here, thanks to Sean, with personal pictures or those trolled from the Net.

What I loved about that time was getting a new car was an event in a family. The new model year was big at our house my Dad and I would discuss what was coming out. When we got a new car it was awesome. When I bought my new car I could have given a crap. I was buying transportation for my wife.

Back then it was pure magic. Cars were freedom. If you wanted to drive for days to Disney you could. Now I don't find the magic anymore unless I am driving one of the Hudsons. Road trips were a time of pure excitement for me now they are a time of dread. Too many idiots on the road. And no one takes their time. Its all rush, rush. When my brother and I drove the Hudson across Canada we took our time went to small towns and enjoyed the journey.

Man, you hit it on the head about the latest car models coming out and getting a new one. I was 14 years old when my Dad asked me to help decide on the next new car. Wow, I had so much fun buying car magazines, visiting dealers, and getting brochures. When Dad came home from work, we'd sit and talk about different cars, colors and options. When I was a little guy, I always liked my toy cars and trucks. However, I think helping to shop for the new car was when I officially got bitten by the car bug. I learned to drive in the car "we" selected and it later became my HS graduation present. Cars were magic and did represent freedom. But you're right about today, everyone is hurried and nobody gets excited about this years new model which was designed 10 years ago. Maybe with the way the economy is going, young families will again discover the joy of taking the family out on the open road...that is if gas prices continue to fall. BTW, you get an A+ for finding all the Hudsons and the cool parts store. I'll try to get an address on the shell store for you. LOL
