im new on here,im from austin texas moved top the states about a year ago from the uk,got sick of the cold grey weather after 39 years...so i just wanna say hi and this site have been an eye opener so far so thanks alot and ill see you around here..

Hello everyone. Name is Luis, I just acquired a 1954 Hudson Hornet in pretty good condition (post pics later). I need some help, the headlights, brake lights and dash lights are not working. If someone can point me in the right direction I will greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Hello fellow members! I just recently joined this forum and I thought I would post a note to introduce myself. I am a semi-retired machinist living in Northern Michigan. I have a small machine shop in my garage and I sell new tool bits, drill sets, dial indicators etc. in my ebay store.

Last April I bought a Hudson Traveler from a gentleman that lives south of Austin Texas. I bought the car on ebay and trailered it home on a U-haul trailer behind my old Jeep Cherokee. I was looking for a pre war 4 door sedan that wasn't too rusty and for a reasonable price. I didn't know much about Hudson's. I just liked the classic styling of the car. Now, the more I learn about them, the better I like'm.

The original 600-16 wheel rims were rusty and pitted so I sandblasted them and sprayed on some epoxy primer. Then I sprayed on several coats (sanding between coats) of urethane high build primer to fill the pits. Finally I sprayed on the "Fleet Blue" urethane as a top coat. These were originally tube type rims but the paint must have sealed up the rivet heads. They are currently holding air with the tubeless radials I installed on them without tubes.

I have removed the 175 C.I. engine (it was seized up) and have it disassembled it for a rebuild. I have rebuilt a car engine before but not an antique car engine. Big difference, I'm finding out! Babbitt bearings? I had no idea! Currently I am cleaning old parts and gathering new parts. That's where I'm at on the project right now.

Yes you will have to babbit the mains and the rods. There are few good outfits for that. These guys have done a lot of work for Hudson owners I know. You probably know someone yourself who does babbit work, its a dying trade.

Thanks for the welcome and the referral to Harkin Machine. I have found that out, that there are few outfits that do babbitt work. I will definitely check them out.

I'm pretty excited about it. Needs work, most notably the crunchy floor boards and the misc. power train of unknown operational status.

Hey welcome to the site. How are the frame rails on the car? You probably know that Hudson are monobuilt unibody cars with the frame rails being integral to the body. They are a bitch to replace but can be done. Question is how much do you spend.

The Pacemaker 11a were assembled in Tilbury Ontario. They differ slightly to the US models in interior trim and brightwork. Nothing made specifically for Canada. The trim level was from the Wasp or Super Wasp depending on what you ordered. Unlike the US Pacemaker that had the lower trim level. Bodies and parts were shipped up to Canada via trucks for assembly. Some parts were made in Canada but mostly the Canadian plant was used for assembly and a distribution point for overseas deliveries to commonwealth countries.

If you are a good welder the frame should not be an issue. Only thing to keep in mind is the value of Pacemakers so you need to be careful about what you spend. But never let that deter you from having fun rebuilding one.

Looks like someone decided to put in the V8 probably could not source a Hudson engine or just wanted something different.
