Figure out what your building!
A Hudson or something that looks like a Hudson each to their own. It's easy to be a purist all you need is a whack of budies with all the right parts bolt them on and away you go. A little attempt at humor here!
A show car only
A car you can drive to shows and get the odd trophy here and there
A nice driver but not perfect for show
Something reliable get a part mechanical or electrical anywhere easily
Something in between long lasting wear parts original or NOS backed up by drive train that is more common.
A hot rod heavily modified in appearance or something that looks era original and could have been built at the time. This is where interior and fabrics etc come in.
Can you get the tough trim parts or are you going to have to figure out how to make them.
Something quiet on the road or a heavy rumbler. This is where added door isulation, floor insulation and hood liner decisions have to be made.
Assess your skills do you have a lot of patience and determination or do you have to have it now!
Do you have or want to have the tools, equipment and space to really do it yourself. You will never have all the tools or all the right tools and may have to build the odd one of them too. Learn as you go and overcome one issue at a time.
Safety is paramount, You will aim it down the highway someday brakes, steering, seat belts and lightiing considerations.
This could all be placed into a decision making spreadsheet and put to good use.
Oh! here is a few not to do's
Dont' have five heart attacks, Four angioplasties and a tripple bypass it really slows the damn project down!!
Have a good one and stick at it.
