Darn, I was thinking Salem North Carolina. Can't explain the one from Vegas. Sure, people in California can still own antique cars, they just can't drive them.

| I would think that; since antique cars do not meet the C.A.R.B. emission standards, use that poisoner of our world gasoline, may have lead still clinging to internal engine parts and in nitrocellulose lacquers, urea or formaldehyde foams and other deadly substances, they would not permit you to register them for use on the pristine public highways. Following the government wisdom, since you could not tag it, if it was parked in your garage without tags you would be storing hazardous materials without a special permit, which of course would be more expensive than the value of the car. Bottom line, the State authorities would vote themselves the right to confiscate your evil internal combustion powered enemy of the people and crush it. And maybe charge you for towing it away.......

Some mighty strong emotions there Moe. Are you sure you don't live in California? I agree, the average Joe in many communties gets crap about having an old car on their property, particularly if it doesn't run. However, I think that is more of an ordinace issue and there are plenty of old cars running around in California. Face it, the problems with pollution can't be hung on old cars anymore. The biggest source of pollution related to the internal combustion engine is the production of E-85. Then too, the way people drive in California doesn't help matters. The last time I was there, I was doing 75 mph on a highway when a cycle cop pulls along side and gives me a strange look. After looking at him and the traffic around me, it dawned on me that I was, by their standards, driving way too slow.

| I just don't think much of california, I've lived there, have relatives there, etc. It seems to me that the most foolish and insane ideas and bone-headed government actions get their start in california. It is becoming a third world socialst paradise, jackbooted thugs acting on behalf of the nanny-state included. I need to find a place that truly believes in liberty and rights of the individual to live. We used to have that here in the south, but too many northerners are moving here, as well as immigrants from third world s***holes that have no problem with being a ward of the state from cradle to grave.

Well, in defense of California, the scenery and weather are nice. The craziness is pervasive throughout the populous, not just at government level. Look at how many people paid $800,000.00 (or more) for a 5 room house within the past few years. They can't give them away now. They'll all be living out of their Beemers.
If you want libery young man, go west to Wyoming. There, you can still smoke in public places. I'm moving to Montana soon, gonna be a dental floss tycoon.

I know what you mean Dave, seeing a big stash of single marque stuff like that. The only problem is that these are the guys that hoard like crazy, and then let everything rot away. If you want to buy a cigarette lighter insert or window crank the guy wants $200, and the one (of 30 he has) that he will sell needs to be re-chromed.
I've been on a cynical run for a few days.....

Well, actually, those pics were taken at the place of an old Hudson guy who restores them and sells parts. Generally speaking, he's not brutal on prices.
I've noticed the cynical you as of late. What's up?
