You know I always used to think he was over charging until I went to get some parts rechromed. When you add the hassle of getting the parts then rechroming some come in at about what he is charging for some items. Other items are crazy overcharged. But as you see he does not move a lot of them they are there again and again. Still probably better to buy off of a vendor at a swap meet. I hate buying chrome stuff off of ebay you can never tell what you are getting.
I have not dealt with this guy myself so do not know what he is like.

or if you get your stuff.
Maybe Dave has a theory as to why this guy seems to have the same revolving inventory....
I have been tempted to buy an item here or there. Currently the taillight bezels for my 50, but, well, let's wait for "larry" to tell us why....

Moe and Curly,
I fell prey and bought the center section of a rear bumper from Mr. Honest. The thing was so bowed it wouldn't fit, even if I could accept that, it looked like crap. When I removed my bumper and took it to a real plater, I happended to have the rechromed one in the back of my SUV. The owner of the plating shop saw it and was appauled at the workmanship. He pointed out several areas that had been poorly welded and had doubts about the plating work. But the thing that burns me about this seller is that he made the mistake, but I had to pay to ship the crap back. My twist on the revolving inventory theory is that he constantly resells this crap and makes his money on shipping. You'd think his feedback would reflect unhappy shoppers, but I for one didn't leave him negative...what's the point. That's probably the case with others too. Your best be is to take a good core to a reputable plater who will stand behind his work.

Agreed find a good plater get to know him.
My number one peeve with ebay is people who try and screw you on shipping then get in a huff when you point it out. Just had a incident where I bought some chrome stuff the ad stated shipping was to US and email for Canadian shipping. The person leaves in the next province over so I am thinking shipping will be cheaper so I request shipping to me and its $14 for $8 shipping. She then emails me saying I stated what the shipping was in the ad, I email back no you didn't. She then emails back all in caps mind you that she will put the change in the package and oh by the way wasn't my last name Scottish trying to offhandly imply I am cheap. I replied paid item in full keep the change and buy yourself a caps key for your computer. What can you do.......This is the second time I have broken my golden rule of always getting a shipping quote before you bid. Both times got burnt.....

Personally, I think eBay needs to look a little closer at shipping rates. While bidders are free to avoid buying from a seller because of outrageous shipping fees, many sellers obviously use inflated shipping as a profit point. IMHO, by not doing anything to curb this sort of activity, eBay is essentially condoning extortion.
I'll never forget my first experience with Ebay. I purchased a set of hubcaps that were represented as being used but in excellent shape. Well, I got them and they were filthy and smashed, but the box was perfect. In trying to resolve this, I foolishly when through eBay. That took one year. Now, if I have a problem that the seller won't resolve, I just file a complaint with the States Attorney's Office and they do the rest. Works like a charm. My twist on eBay is that they favor the sellers, the ones who actually pay fees to them. The buyers are on their own.

| eBay is definitely slanted that way. I spend most of my time on the seller end of it. perhaps I am the exception, but I pay all of the insurance on items I sell, since insurance is there to protect the seller. Also, I usually loose money on every sale on shipping, just to make sure I don't have any buyer ever thinking I am making money on shipping. I buy expensive boxes, packing supplies, etc... and I bet I loose 2-3 dollars on packaging alone each time I sell something. (of course most of my sales are fountain pens.... )

I have no problem with a seller being up front about it. Instead of starting it at $9.99 start at $15 to pad in your shipping coverage. I get pissed like this last incident where they tell me they have to drive it to the post. How the heck did you think you were going to get it to the buyer in the first place. I hate it when people do not state clearly in listing what shipping is....
Burnt myself though and I admit it I usually ask for shipping quote before hand but stupidly thought since this item was in Canada the shipping would be less.....idiot...

Most sellers seem to ship in used boxes or buy new ones at the USPS. Either way, I don't care what something comes in, as long as it's in good shape when it arrives. But if someone wants to give the impression of being a business, they might want to get quality packaging.
But just like anything else involving money, you have to be careful. Although I'm sure there are sellers who do make honest mistakes, some mistakes (like jacking up shipping costs and adding goofy fees) are just plain fraud.
Considering what insurance costs, all sellers should just pay the $1.35+ it costs to protect themselves. But then again, some people are just plain stupid and cheap.

I like USPS they get stuff to me in Canada on time and do not charge BS fees like the FedEx and UPS people. UPS charged me $35 fee to process my package. USPS charges $2.

Really? I wonder why some PO's sell them? So why don't you use the free boxes?

Yeah send em in a a big box with two sheets of newspaper. They should be ok. Had that done to me....you know I have learnt through this experience that two sheets of newspaper is no match for the shipping on a truck.
