So what is your favorite Hudson brochure or piece of advertisement.

I will have to say that the brochure for 1954 is amazing. Its very large and has a beautiful painting of a 54 Hornet convertible on the cover. The inside is just as nice. Each car is shown and painted like a piece of art. For the 54 model year Hudson went all out and I have lots of the folder announcements that look like pieces of abstract art. These then fold out into an announcement.

I also like the Brougham brochure from 48 which shows the convertibles. This is another work of art.

I also have all the Twin-H announcement fliers that are fold out cards that explain the benefits of Twin H power have not seen these very often.

I think my rarest piece is the five star dealer program which is a special ring bound portfolio which contains about 120 pages that out lines what the five star dealer program is about. It goes over what you have to do to qualify and then explains how to setup a dealership. It has a designers guide which contains floorplans and color samples which guide you into creating the most visually appealing show room and even gives a layout for the service department how to paint where to put the signs what overalls to wear. I was then lucky enough to find the dealer blueprints book which is the companion to this that contains the actual blueprints for building the dealership. It contains blueprints for building the parts department shelves. It then lists what parts go on what shelves and has a space maximizer layout for different sized buildings. So its says you stock sheet metal parts a certain way how each shelf is laid out and what is stocked on it and how to index the shelves for ease of use.

With this lot I can actually accurately recreate a circa 53 Hudson dealership and that is what I plan to do. I am looking for a building to buy that I can recreate a dealership to house a garage for restoring my car(s) and display area for Hudson stuff. Basically a fun house for me and my hobby. I had the graphic designer for my company recreate most of the Hudson signage and logo's I have also worked out the design to build a new Hudson neon sign if I cannot get an original I can recreate them. I work in Hi-tech all day so chillin in the lo-tech world of Hudsons is a real stress reducer. My family has to come and get me when I hit the garage and work on my Hudson stuff...I don't use a watch out there so I lose track of time

Oops this post went on too long...... Shocked

blah blah blah.... Laughing

The hudson dealership sounds really cool. I think that it would be the shizzle to have an original dealership, with a showroom, set it to around 1954, have a used lot of hudsons (all stepdowns of course) maybe a dealership 46-7 pickup, parts counter, couple cars in the showroom. Of course my dealership wouldn't have any jets, or ugly italias, probably a 54 hornet convertible, a coupe, a hollywood, and a 4 door hornet. Outside would be a mix of used hudsons.

Since I would have to win the lottery to do this, With the extra money, I would make you and Dave come down and work at the dealership. one week Dave would have to drive the truck around and pick up parts, and drop them off, and you would be on the sales floor. Of course you guys would swap duties. We would have to get one of those old cash registers that you have to hit the keys on super hard to make work.

As far as my favorite piece of literature, not sure what I like best. What I would like though, and not sure if they were produced, is a folder that would allow you to flip thru the body styles and models, and build your car in the proper color configuration, ex two tone... Oldsmobile did this, for sure in the 50's and 60's. Hudsondad has a 53 olds album that allows you to choose the model (on transparancies) and overlay it on the color combination of your choosing. It's pretty cool.

I like my "Tour of the Hudson factory" and "The Importance of Stepping Down" brochures. Heck, I like anything related to Hudsons.

When you guys are done spending your millions, I'll stop by to check out your dealerships. Then, I can see where you went wrong and make mine the best.

Kid, you'd better make sure that the parts truck has uber brakes. I remember PA to be very hilly.

Sounds like some techno-dude needs to send us some copies of all that info he's hoarding.

Now that HK has mentioned that I was going to offer you guys jobs in my dealership as well he beat me to the gun.

First 3 weeks HK, will have to run the lube and wash rack with Dave behind the parts counter looking friendly. 50's music will be heard from the old console radio behind the counter which will be fed by my little broadcast rig and a laptop.

I will run the sales floor dressed in a period suit. Next three weeks we all swap though I know Dave will be Jonesing to dress as the secretary who wears those black high heels and stockings....after he does we will all realize that we may have made a slight error in judgement when we tried to play the females of the era as well.

Hey, I'll work the parts counter but the xdressing is out. Obviously, you two get way too turned on by that.

BTW, what the heck are you drinkin' there?
