The people in the drawing are looking at the gigantic engine and thinking:
A) "Wow, that really is a big six"
B) "That engine can't be good on gas"
C) "Is this a prop from the movie, "The attact of the Giant Hudson Engine"

Touche. I hope they changed the wording in the ad when marketing Hudson in Canada...American market...America's newest... Well Sean, did they?

I was hoping that you would tell me that Hudson didn't screw-up on that. Now I can sleep without worry.

I have the ads like "Hudsons newest car in Canada" stuff like that the ads are almost identical but just the country replaced.

And of course the cars were pictured in appropriate settings...no Hudsons in front of the Statue of Liberty or climbing up Mt. Rushmore. Speaking of this ad, what was up with the wearing of hats back in 1951? Did everyone have bad hair or what?

Heck everyone wore hats back then it was civilized. Long overcoats were the norm. I have a long overcoat from 51 that I wear when driving gives me the total look. I get out see and I talk about dames see....

Everyone...babies and animals too? Overcoat aye. I read something about a Canadian guy driving around in a Hudson who gets out, opens his overcoat, flashes dames and then drives off.
Looking at other ads from the era, women always wore skirts and high heels and men were always in suites. Hudson advertising was all over the place. An ad for a convertible actually showed people in a beach scene and another showed a woman in the back of a Stepdown in an evening gown. So who did they show in truck ads, pig farmers in bib overalls?

Everyone wore hats back then. (Kennedy showing up frequently sans chapeaux brought an end to everyday hat wear) It was normal to get dressed up to take a trip, either by plane, train or car.
Any truck adverts I saw were usually medium duty truck ads and the guys always looked like professional drivers with a company jacket and tie. The farm implement ads did have farmers in bibs, with flannel shirts, gloves and a straw hat, but no tie. (no kneedeep pigshat either, except the Canadien ones!)

By the time Kennedy came around, the hats (or "lids" as they were called by a certain younger segment of society then) had tiny brims and looked absolutely stupid. I'm not a hat guy, but I do have a few cool ones that are worn from time to time.
I remember that traveling at one time was a big event that required one to dress. Today, it seems like many people can barely pull on some sweats or a pair of jeans and a sweat shirt.
I don't recall having seen ads for Hudson trucks, but would assume the ball gowns and tuxedos were out of the question.
Better watch those Canadian rips. If not, you better not open that gift box from Sean this holiday season that says "100% Genuine Maple Syrup." I found out the hard way when I put a drop of this stuff on my pancakes and it blew a crater in the table.

I don't remember much about Hudson truck advertisements, but the Ford/GMC/White/Autocar, etc. ones are the ones I was thinking about.
Gotta rag on the boys from north of the border. Just poke 'em with a stick once in a while, wouldn't want them hibernating too early!
I'll just have to keep a box of genuine "Florida Citrus" ready for fast shipment.

I liked the old Ford TV commercials that showed the F-150 driving down a row of rail road ties...twin I beam suspension, bla, bla...
Sean won't be hibernating, he'll be in Brazil doing the Lambada, Entrada or similar rythmic ritualistic tribal dances, all while eating Brazil nuts.
Oh, no, the notorious box of "Florida Sunshine." I've heard that during WWII, they used those when grenaiders weren't available.

The truck ads were always people delivering stuff. And those people were in delivery suits. Ah, it was a more civilized time.

Sure, they had delivery suites on...over women's underwear.
