Here is a somewhat nice Hornet coupe. The ad is very confused and I do not understand the golden Hornet reference. I also do not understand why it has the interior trim out of a later Hornet and the seats out of a Lincoln. I cannot find this "Hudson Blue" on my chips. I think it was supposed to be Bali Blue but turned out this way.
If you could get it for the right price be easy to fix it up. The dash cleaning story was priceless.

Golden Hornet my stinger! They must hand out car awards like candy at a parade at Achtung fest in good old PA. I'm sorry, this car is just sad. Maybe not a rust bucket, but sad nonetheless.

Pretty easy to fix though. Looks solid enough take me about 2 weeks to make this look like it rolled off show room floor.

Two weeks, sure thing! It would take me that long to pick out a set of tires. BTW, like the snow tires in the rear. Maybe a Golden Hornet special accessory.
From what one can gather from looking at pictures and reading the maudlin description, I'd plan on more like two years to put this hoopty back together again. That goofy blue paint would have to go too.

| Not a bad car, but yep the color sucks. It looks like a bulk "fleet" color, or early 70s GM enamel... yuk! Too high a starting price, she'd get the $6.5K easily by just saying, here it is, have somebody who knows something about cars look at it. opening price of $2500, it would sell easily. The big wah wah story about the car that tells you nothing hurts, rather than helps.

You've got it Zeph. Way more info than anyone needs or wants. I like the comment on the bulk "fleet" color. It reminds me of the old Mustang Grabber Blue. As far as we can tell at this point, the car needs paint, interior, tires and trim work. As far as the rest, it could be like the old kids rhyme about the church and steeple, but instead of open the doors and see all the people, it would be more like open the doors and see all the peep holes.

this one is close. I HATE the color, but another hornet coupe withing 60 miles....
I think the entire ad is BS, but it seems this person is living off the BS.....
Oh if only it were a pacemaker...
without the trim, it's getting close...

And why couldn't it be a Pacemaker? After all, it's a limited edition "Golden Hornet" at the moment. If you have time to blow and need a good laugh, maybe you should pay the seller a visit.

I would really like to know what the underside of the car looks like and I agree with HK these cars never needed that side trim to look good. The lines of the car are perfect. With nice wheels and an actual good paint job not this house paint mess it would be a stunner.

There are many, many things wrong with this car. The rear bumper has the horse collar the 51 did not have this and the bumper guards are in the wrong place and of course the interior is all wrong. I am thinking if you appeared in that back yard with 10K you would walk away with this car and for 10K more restore to factory and you would have a sweet ride. Its one of things you jump on. If it were near me I would be over in a flash with cash not a cheque...cash man to seal the deal.

$5-6K should own that car, if there aren't any rust surprises.
And it has a really ugly steering wheel.

51 Hornet coupes are hard to come by so if this solid its worth the money. Would not take much to fix this car. Trim is easy and the seats need redoing a new headliner and new paint maybe the engine rebuilt. Looks pretty solid from what I can see only the frame is an issue.
HK will roll over there and give us the 411 on it.

Sean, Although the boy looks straight, I'm concerned about this PA car having snow tires. Also, the lack of engine and chassis pics are suspicious. But...maybe that's just the seller's inexperience.
No, no, Zeph, this is the "pretty" steering wheel.

| I think that I'm gonna see if dad is up for a trek to allentown area to check this one out. I bet 4K would easily buy it. He is missing a 51 from the collection, so it would be nice to have all of the nascar years, and a 54 would be nice as well....

Tell him that he needs to spend more quality time bonding with you. At this point, you might be able to do better than $4,000.00.
