okay, so me and hudsondad are going to look at something really special today.... not going to spill out what it is, but it is:
a stepdown,
it is a desireable body style,
one that everyone dreams about,
and it seems to be in really decent shape,
pending a restoration, but it is not a basket case, as you usually see in stepdowns... especially in this model...
I hope you guys can feel the anticipation, and excitement, I know I am... we will get pictures posted later today.........

well, yesterday has come and gone....
We thought we were looking at a 51 pacemaker convertible.
It turned out to be a solid, 51 Super Six convertible, that was pretty much all there, but needed some work The interior was original, and probably useable, the top mechanism appeared to all be there, and in terrific shape. Seemed to have a 262 with hydramatic. Original color looks like it was a cream, with black top, and maroon interior. It had a continental kit, which I have to assume is aftermarket, non hudson. Also, it looked to have a set of 54 wire wheel covers.
I will get a picture or two up later, the car will be at Hershey. If anyone wants more details about the car, I will be glad to assist. I will not be posting contact information here, nor will I post the price. If you PM me, or e-mail me, I will get you the needed information. I think both you guys have the vital info.... All I ask is you keep corespondence regarding this car private.
We decided it was not a project for us, so hopefully it finds a good home. It would be a great project for someone that doesn't want to weld for months, or try to fix a rusted hulk from a junkyard. Convertibles come along very rare, and solid starting projects are HTF.
Yes, this was supposed to be a hudsondad project, but it turned out to not necessarily be what he was looking for. I really think he is set on a SWB convertible, and preferrably a wasp, but a pacemaker would have fit the bill. I guess if it were even a hornet, it would have been more appealing, but neither of us could really get enthused about a super 6 convertible even.

Wow looks pretty good though I would turf that continental kit I hate those. Thanks for the pics. Must have been nice to open the door and see a Hudson convertible.

Cool...Any idea how much the seller is asking or if the car runs?

car did not run.
as far as price, we got a pretty good idea where the price will likely start. We figure it was best not to make an offer. It really wasn't what we were looking for.

Did you guys think the starting price was reasonable? What's the history? Has the seller had the car for years or did he recently discover it or?

My guess is that if it were priced right, HK and HD would have bought it.

Yes I agree must be another one of those we have struck gold sellers. Restore it properly and I will pay top dollar for it but don't offer beat up crap at high prices and expect us to smile....

For a resto shop to bring this car back to 100%, it would take about $50,000.00. With that thought in mind, the sellers better do a reality check before they place it in the marketplace.
Sean,
Look at the pic of the underside of the hood. Is that an insulation pad/blanket I see there? There seems to be some debate as to whether or not the factory installed these. Can you shed some light on this topic?
