Great. So, with that seemingly nice paint job, is he telling us that they painted over rust? Nice trunk lid prop rod...not! Great car if you want a mutt Hudrolet.
Seriously, it "looks" like a clean car and some aspects (fog lights) are dead on correct. You could probably deconvert this car without too much effort. Notice I did not say without spending too much money.
I'll never undertand why some people must destroy history and make things into something other than they were meant to be. IMO, it takes much more talent to do the research and find parts to restore something back to what it originally was.
The auction heading should be redone to read, "Starting bid $10,000.00. Reserve will not be met."

I really like the 48-50 stepdowns I wasn't too keen on them at first but they have grown on me and I have added them to my list of cars to have. The front end of this car looks really straight. Very nice job.

IMO, the convertibles (drool) and 4dr sedans are the best examples of the step down design. However, I do like the look of the Brougham sedans. Although I've always prefered a coupe, the step down design on the coupe just doesn't do it for me. This car "appears" to have lots going for it. I'd be afraid of getting stuck to those vinyl (?) seats. $10k for starters and no A/C...come on.

I like the coupes. Hudsons have the best looking coupes of any car company of that era.

Well, at least you get a decent sized front door window with a coupe. Regardless of body style, the stepdowns are the best looking cars of the era.

I'm amazed everytime I look at my Hudson. After 54 years, the design still looks cool. Compared to other cars ofthe day, people must have thought that the stepdowns looked so futuristic.

When it came out in 48 as a production vehicle is was way ahead of its time. Oh yeah we saw the concept cars but Hudson actually produced the car. When you look at the lineup for 48 the Stepdowns looked so far ahead its scary. Then of course everyone scrambled to catch up.

| Not a bad custom, not a $10K custom either. It likely would have been a far better car had he just converted to discs, maybe an eight or a later big 6, better bodywork and correct trim, he'd have an $8-10K driver. Somebody will grab it and have fun with it, (after they spend the $1200 for add on air)

I often wonder if the stepdown was just a glitch or if Hudson could have gone onto greater things, providing things had been different in 1954. Based on the 54 redesign, I think a nice V-8, A/C and some power options could have turned things around.
At least this coupe is not totally jazzed. Some fine tuning, good A/C and you should be good to go.

| yeah, this one isn't that bad. If the frame is all there, I bet the asking is right about fair. It would be an easy sell at 8K. I think this one, once you get up on it, would be an amateur job, everything would need to be redone, and detailed. The engine transplant would make a great driver. I bet Jay, who's doing a "similar" car would have thought this a better starting point.

If you're buying anything name brand and want to save some money, shop for the best price wherever you need to. You'd better start shopping at Wal-Mart and show your alliegance because they just bought Canada's Ministry of Finance.
Yes sir, climbing up the pole to use the telephone, visiting with Arnold, Mr. Ziffle and Mr. Haney...life's good. Sean's acres is the place to be...farm livin' is the life for me...
Irish, aye. You must toast up nice when you're in Brazil.

I know exactly what you mean. I have a shrine to Mr. Carrier, father of modern air conditioning.
