WOW. It looks like you had some really nice Hudsons at the meet. The venue you selected looks inviting and level grass is certainly much easier on the feet (and the Hudsons) than roasting hot blacktop or unlevel fields.

That 53 looks mighty good to my eyes. But, I'd didn't see any pics of that certain 51 Hornet.

What was in the tents? Did you have any parts trading hands? How was the parade? So many questions...

Yes the location is excellent for displaying the Hudsons. We are growing and more people from across Canada are coming. We had new cars this year and the weather was great. It was hot though all day is was over 90 and the tents you see are the shade tents we setup for people to get out of the sun.

The nice thing about our location is we do our meet in conjunction with the local fair so we get a lot of foot traffic from people who are not used to seeing Hudsons. We had so many people view the cars this year. We get to drive them in the parade and the grass really is a nice way to line up the cars and yes its easier on the feet and you will note you do not see any modern vehicles in the lineup. The park provides lots of entertainment for the family so the kids and ladies in our lives do not have to sit around all day and hear people talking car. The food onsite was amazing and so reasonable it is hard to beat.

Next year we are moving to a three day event. Friday we will register and people can bring out and leave their cars over night or camp out with us. My daughter and I put up our big tent with the camp cots and we were set it was great, very comfortable. On Saturday we are going to do some fun stuff along with the show and shine and on Sunday we are going to take a tour down to the car museum which will be nice to have a caravan of Hudsons on the road and nice for the people from across Canada who have not seen the museum.

Since your meet is growing, good thing that venue has lots of green space. Ah, shade tents. In addition to the thanks you probably received from those basking in the shade, you have my compliments. The common sense to provide convenient cooling tents, bathroom facilities, cold drinks and food seems to be an unknown quantity for some car clubs. Here, industrious kids bring golf carts to large shows and drive around selling cool drinks. Like yours, good shows here engage quality food puveyors to prepare and serve a variety of great food and beverages.

The combination of a fair and car show makes sense. It brings out more people and helps to further interest in the cars. Every summer here, there is a Councours show on the grounds of a historic local estate. It begins with a light breakfast at poolside (for those displaying cars) followed by the car show and fair. Everything you could want or need is provided. It is so nice to be on grass, especially when it is 90+ degrees. And trees, even if you are not enjoying their shade, do offer a welcome bit of cooling. This show does not have a public parade, but show finalists do parade around the grounds and are called to order in front of the mansion to receive awards. So nice to be away from hot pavements, commercial buildings, modern cars and views of traffic speeding by.

To me, it sounds like you have more people and events every year. It sounds super. If I were closer, or if you would send your Lear Jet for me, I'd be there in a heartbeat. You may just have to build an addition onto your tent.

Summer is a hard time for a meet. Every year we get new cars and old cars that did not come this year. I am working on building the consistency as it is proving difficult to get everyone out each year. I am hoping by moving to the 3 day event we will get more people to join in. Its always fun to take your car on a tour with other cars. When you roll into town with a long line of Hudsons it gives everyone the opportunity to see the cars. Driving the cars is the fun.

We have lots of nice places we can tour each year. A fellow in our area has opened an Edsel cafe he caters to old car nuts. Its a fifties style diner with the front end of an Edsel on the wall over the counter. He likes to host car clubs so we will hit his place one year and its a nice drive out there.

Just have to keep going and organize better events each year.

So true, summers are complicated with vacations, graduations and the like. Also, the heat and humidity can soemtimes combine to make both man and machine misbehave. By doing a three day event, you're giving more people the opportunity to join in. Good idea.

We have a few drive-ins that, on specific days, cater only to old cars. Also, there is a Hudson cafe not very far from me. If you show up in a Hudson, you get "comped." One of these days, I'm going to stage my car in front of a 50's modern home or building and do a "period" photo shoot.

I think that variety is good, but one has to be careful these days. So many events have car owners sign waivers to limit liability. Also, I've heard talk about a few clubs no longer offering tech sessions after members claimed to use the advice given and then suffered some sort of loss that they're suing the club over. If these people would only use their powers for good rather than evil...
