well got around to getting the auto gearbox leak fixed turned in to a big job ! the torus springs were broken and had to be replaced clutch plates worn out and had to be replaced rest servisable fitted new pinion seal and cover gasket another leak stopped have to fit a more modern brake booster and new wheel cylinders and pipes then its time to think about the interior Smash

Good stuff Baz. Yup when I rebuilt mine I got the complete kit. Clutch plates seals etc. Since it was such a bitch to pull on jack stands on floor(never do that again) I wanted to do everything. Remember to set the band tension after you rebuild. Done inside the car using the band adjusters.

Also what car shows you got going over there? do you get your Hudson out much. I would think it would go over pretty good.

We Have a few shows i usually go to but this year didn't do any i had my daughters wedding (needed the Hudson to be in top shape) and working on my 32 sedan hot rod (302 with C4 independent Jag rear MK3 Cortina front) home built chassis been running for a couple of years never got round to finishing it. The shows start in 1st Jan Hangover meet at the Ace Cafe then in march we have the NSRA swap meet (usually snows) April we have the NASC swapmeet the first real show is Wheels Day used to be held at Brooklands may we have the spring nats then in june we have Billing fun run a great weekend june the nostalgia nats the ESRA euro nats Belgium August the street rod nationals Sept the hot rod drags there are quite a few others but i dont go to all of them. i tried to send you the pics but i just cant work it out not sure what a url is tried to drag them in to a PM and got a "flood warning" not sure what that is either not good with computers i am afraid i could send them to your e-mail address i know how to do that Ha Ha. put a hundred miles on the Hudson last weekend ran like a dream but the brakes oh dear they are poor i have a new master cylinder and booster and all new wheel cylinders and rubber pipes just have to get round to doing it guess thats it for now Baz

On my 54 sedan I am restoring I put 4 wheel disc brake on it. I got a Richard Pridemore kit includes these beautifully machined hubs for the front. The rear I adapter off a kit I saw for a Studebaker Avanti. Master cylinder, rotors and calipers are Wildwood.

I did a complete rebuild of the stock brakes on my 51 sedan and I find they are not up to modern traffic and they fade in the city in high traffic. My 54 Hollywood is also getting 4 wheel discs when I begin the resto on her.

I have heard of the Ace cafe show. I am a big lover of Brit bikes. Norton Commando's and Triumph Bonnivilles and everything in between. So I am working on some side bike projects when I can.

I used to ride Triumphs as well T110 T120 Triumph Thunderbird an old 5T all pre unit nothing unit construction also had a Velocet Thruxton a couple of BSA's i tried to send the pics via pm but i couldn't lets forget them its too much trouble maybe one day i will find out how to post pics Ha Ha. oh i fitted discs to my 55 Buick Roadmaster from Scarebird they were a snip to fit and changed the whole car but scarebird dont do Hudson conversions yet. Just striped the Treadal vac and its rusty inside lots of problems i am going to re build it as i want to know how the brakes were back in 54 if they are anything like the Buick probably non existent !!!!!

Whats the prices like on used bikes over there? I see the ads in Brit bike mags but I mean more like what you can find and haggle over.

54 brakes with the boost were pretty good. Some say soft and no feel. But they were ok but of course like all drums they fade under use in traffic. I was coming through lot of traffic and I had bad brake fade had to 2 feet the stop.

to be honest i havent a clue about bike prices now are you after anything specific if you are i could look in to it? also i fitted the dual master cylinder tday hooked it up to the pedal when i tried it it felt a bit funny taking a closer look the brake peadl is on some kind of multiplying compensator if you have a break down drawing of the 54 brake pedal assembly could you post it for me the books i have dont show the brake system with tredle vac on the bulhead. as the car is a way away in dry storage i need a drawing to work to thanks a lot regards Barry

Nope none of my docs show the actual pedal to bulkhead setup. I will keep looking.

hi got the brakes sorted new master cylinder and booster did the trick but still have a problem with the pedal it has a multiplying action that is fine for the old treadle vac but not for the new master cylinder have to get the pedals out and sort that out Baz
