Welcome David,

ask lots of questions here and we will get you any info you need on Hudsons. First thing you should do is join the Hudson Essex Terraplane Club (HET) You will then receive the clubs magazine which is a great source of info about Hudsons plus has a for sale section so you can see nice cars to buy. Here is the link and you can signup using Paypal.

hetclub.org/ look through the site and join online using this www.hetclub.org/member...ippay.html

Again welcome to wonderful world of Hudson Motorcars once you get one you will be hooked. If you browse this site you will see we have lots of members in Europe maybe one is close enough to give you a ride in a Hudson or knows of cars for sale.

The models are:

2 door Cub Coupe (Small rear side window)
2 door sedan Brougham (Long rear side window)
2 door Hollywood Hardtop (Pillar less doors)
2 door Convertible
4 door sedan

Good condition#2 1952 2 door coupe with 7X motor you are looking at 35-65K US dollars and I would say it would be on the 65K side.

Yes I know this car. The 7x engine was installed by the owner who restored it. This is a really nice car. Everything has been restored to a very high standard. You will not get this car for under 65K but keep in mind that you could never find a car and restore it for that price so its worth the money and its value will not drop.

How spectacular is the difference (while driving) between an usual 308 and 7x engine?

How is the difference in beetwen the automatic and Manual transmission with overdrive...

How fast can i go with how much RPM?

The Hudson flat top six is a low reving engine. It develops its torque at around 1800 rpm. You will never rev it over 4k rpm. No need. Its a low end torque monster.

Hudsons automatic is a 4 speed Hydramatic that in my opinion is a fine transmission. Smooth and if maintained works very nicely. The 3 spd with OD is also nice and allows you to choose your shifts. Its a wet oil covered clutch so very smooth. Both are good trannies.

The true 7X engine is nice to have you get more torque and nice sound but for regular cruising the 308 is a fine engine. You can get in plenty of trouble with a stock 308 with Twin H. Top speed on normal 308 is a little over 100 mph. With 7x you could probably hit 120 but 7x was designed for low end pull around a dirt track where pull and acceleration were valued over top end speed. Now if you plan on vintage racing your Hornet then 7x is nice but I would not be vintage racing a 65K + car myself unless you got lots of money.

Buy the top end cruiser and build your own 7X race car for track.

Once you set it up right there are really no problems. I have not experienced any with mine. Hudsons are pretty low maintenance change the oil regularly if you park it in winter make sure to put stabilizer in the fuel. Change the oil before you park and you are good to go.
