Does anyone know the OEM, National or any other mfgs. number for a Hudson transmission rear seal? It is a 1955 with the Packard engine, Ultramatic transmission and a closed (torque tube) driveshaft.
Thanks, Dave

Thanks for the recommendation but I happen to be AutoTran :D) and I can't find any info to help me determine what seal it uses.

Ha that is funny I never noticed that. Have you talked to Paul Shuster he has a lot of experience with the 55 and up Hudsons.

I was able to look up a part number in my Motor's Parts and Labor book for 1958 it lists the 1955 Ultramatics rear housing oil seal as part # 6471009 I would think that would be an OEM part #

Thanks for the part number and lead. I had actually already called Gus Souza to find out but he was at the show in Warren so I didn't get to talk to him.
I will research the #6471009 now and if I come up with the answer I will post my results. Dave

Here is the Packard part number for the same seal 333546

And the Studebaker Part number of it is 6470203

Hopefully one of these part numbers will get you a cross reference

All the OEM #'s x-ref to a National #471829 or a C/R #16201. All of the different web sites that have x-ref'd these seals say they replace the #333546 and the #6470203 seals. The Nat'l #471829 seal is 3/8" thick and the C/R #16201 seal is 5/16" thick. One site says that you could use two #471829's together, in essence giving you a double lip seal, an idea, but certainly not required for most people.

51Hornet, thanks for the help and OEM numbers. Dave
